November 05, 2015 Sebastian Fastenrath

On Thursday, 27 March, 2014, the last GreenRegio expert workshop took place in Brisbane. Fifteen experts discussed Brisbane’s green building processes. The discussants represented different views from architectural firms, urban planning, consultancy, policy, construction industry, and research.

The workshop venue was the Brisbane Square Library, part of a certified 5 Green Star 37 story office building in the CBD of Brisbane. Completed in 2006, it is one of the first green buildings in Brisbane and one of the largest 5 star certified buildings in Australia. A range of green technologies and materials were used: sustainable timber, steel with high post-consumer recycled content, heat rejection to the river, black water sewer mining system, and provision of a CO2 control and monitoring system.

The workshop was followed by a excursion to the Green Square buildings in Fortitude Valley, the first office buildings in Queensland awarded a 6 Green Star rating.
